The proposed Macedon BESS Project is a 100 MW 4-hour Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) that enhances grid stability by providing a bi-directional energy function, helping to smooth out fluctuations and allowing an increased supply of cost-effective clean renewable energy. The Macedon BESS project is expected to charge and discharge stored energy enough to power the equivalent of approximately 35,000 households for a 4-hour discharge cycle.

Spanning across approximately 5 hectares of land, the Macedon BESS Project will be located approximately 3.5 km south of Macedon township, and about 60 km north-west of Melbourne, Victoria state’s capital.

The project is currently under development with construction expected to commence in early 2027, achieving full operation in Q2 2028.
